Council Committee for Legislative Session
Mike Guevara was elected to Place 4 on the Cedar Park City Council in 2018, and was appointed Mayor Pro Tem in May 2019.
Guevara is dedicated to helping children in need find loving and permanent homes through adoption. He is an active volunteer with Williamson County Adoption Day, an event which helps place children who have been orphaned or are in foster care into forever families. He also volunteers his time to help families in the process of adoption of children and has spoken on the subject of adoption with church and civic groups.
Guevara has volunteered with the Varsity Football team at Hill Country Christian School and currently serves on its Board of Trustees.
Guevara earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and History from Mid-America Nazarene University in 1996 and Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law in 1999. As a third year law student he worked as a Legislative aide for a State Representative. He has represented municipalities throughout his legal career and is now a Partner in the law firm Shahan Guevara Decker Arrott. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas City Attorney Association and is admitted to practice before the Texas State Courts and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas. Guevara brings a high level of experience and interest in municipal government with him to the Cedar Park City Council.
Guevara is originally from Dallas. He has lived in Cedar Park since 2001. Guevara and his family attend Hill Country Bible Church. He and his wife Amy enjoy spending time with their two children, Chloe and Anthony.
