Milburn Park Pool to open June 15
City seeking additional lifeguards so other pools can open
The City of Cedar Park is pleased to announced that it has met the lifeguard staffing requirements to open Elizabeth Milburn Park Pool on June 15. Milburn Park Pool will reopen on June 15 with limited capacity according to the Governor’s Orders. Hours will be Monday through Saturday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The City is working to phase the reopening of its other pools at Veterans Memorial Park and Buttercup Creek, as required lifeguard staffing levels are met.
The City appreciates the community’s patience as we ramp up our lifeguard recruiting and staffing to open these pools. It takes 100 part-time staff to operate all of our City pools. While most of City-owned pools have traditionally opened daily Memorial Day Weekend, the COVID-19 pandemic that began in March caused our timeline to be delayed. The uncertain pandemic conditions prevented us from being able to actively recruit, hire and train the necessary number of lifeguards during the spring.
We are continuing the process of recruiting, hiring and thoroughly training the necessary number of lifeguards to open all of our pools – while still adhering to the guidelines set forth by the current Governor’s Order and the CDC.
It is not too late to train to be a lifeguard! If you are interested in a fun and rewarding summer job, click here for more information.
