Cedar Park incentivizes growth of popular Red Horn Brewery and Roastery
Second location allows for increased production of craft beers and specialty coffee, adding 15 jobs and a capital investment of $1 million
The Cedar Park City Council approved a performance-based economic development incentive agreement between the Cedar Park Economic Development (Type A) Corporation and Red Horn Brewery and Roastery, LLC at the Thursday, February 13, 2020 City Council Meeting.
Cedar Park Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale says, “Open here, grow here is a key strategic goal of the Cedar Park City Council. This means not only using our economic development resources to recruit new businesses but also to support our existing local businesses. Red Horn is a perfect example of a home-grown Cedar Park business and we look forward to seeing them succeed in their expansion.”
Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co. opened in 2015 at a small retail center at 13010 West Parmer Lane, Suite 800, just southeast of the intersection of West Parmer Lane and Whitestone Boulevard. The new second location will be in addition to its original location where they have just renewed their lease.
Red Horn owner Jon Lamb says, “The City of Cedar Park, and the neighboring communities, have welcomed us with open arms since our entry into the market in 2015. With the support of the community and dedicated employees, we’ve been able to build a foundation that has allowed our small business to grow. We’re thankful for City resources that will help keep Cedar Park our homebase for expansion.”
Under the performance-based incentive agreement, Red Horn will expand its operations in 8,000 square feet of space at the Scottsdale Technology Center. They must finish out an 8,000 square foot facility at 1615 Scottsdale Drive in the Scottsdale Crossing Technology Center. There, they will be able to increase their production and distribution of craft beers and specialty coffee. The new facility’s retail component serving coffee, beer and food is a complement to nearby H-E-B Center at Cedar Park and major Cedar Park employers such as Voltabox and Revenue Cycle along with future employers James Avery Artisan Jewelry’s second headquarters and the Crossover. Red Horn plans to employ 15 additional full time employees by September 30. The agreement is funded by Economic Development (Type A) funds from 3/8 cent of local sales tax collected when people shop and dine in the corporate boundaries of Cedar Park. The City encourages everyone to Buy Cedar Park. This project will generate new property tax revenues for this location as well.
