UPDATE: Cedar Park Investigate Shooting Death

The Cedar Park Police Department continues to investigate Saturday’s fatal shooting incident at the intersection of East Whitestone and 183A.

The deceased victim has been identified as Fernando Chaparro Lopez (DOB: 11/13/1996). The driver and victim’s uncle, Jose Arely Chaparro-Benitez (DOB: 2/27/1976) is recovering at a local hospital.

At this point, the investigation leads us to believe the suspect(s) and deceased passenger were known to each other. This was not a random act of violence and there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to the general public.

If you have any first-hand, pertinent information surrounding this case, please call Lt. Larry Bond at 512-260-4766.
