1. Will you pick up yard trimmings outside of the yard trimmings recycling timeframe?

Yes, as long as the guidelines for size, weight, bundling, wet bags and other bulk waste guidelines are followed. The yard trimmings picked up outside of the listed recycling dates will not be recycled. They will go to the landfill. We encourage you to take advantage of the recycling service for yard trimmings that is offered for six weeks in the spring and two weeks in the fall.

2. I saw a worker put my yard trimmings into my trash cart, and my cart was emptied into the truck. Is this typical?

Yes. Any time outside of the designated yard trimmings recycling schedule, sanitation workers may place smaller yard trimmings into your trash cart for it to be emptied into the truck.

3. Do items count towards bulk items limit?

During the six- and two-week yard trimmings recycling period, no. However, outside of the yard trimmings recycling dates, yard trimmings are picked up as trash and taken to the landfill and do count towards your bulk limit of seven (7) items outside of your trash cart.

4. Why don’t you offer yard trimmings recycling year-round?

We strive to keep costs low and service level high. Recycling yard trimmings is a service enhancement that we have been able to work into our schedule, for a total of 8 weeks per year – and still keep costs low. We appreciate you working with us and take advantage of this enhanced service offering during these two periods each year.

5. My regular recycling collection is biweekly. How often is my yard trimmings recycling?

During the designated six- and two-week period for yard trimmings recycling, your trimmings will be picked up weekly.

6. By what time should I set out my yard trimmings?

As with your trash and other recycling, please always set out your yard trimmings by 7 a.m. on your designated trash pickup day and leave it out until it is collected.
