Glow-in-the-dark bike ride takes home top honors among cities of similar size.
The City of Cedar Park’s Parks and Recreation Department was awarded the Lone Star Recreation and Programming Achievement Award for its first-ever Kaleidospoke event. This award recognizes achievements in parks programming across the State. The City of Cedar Park’s Parks and Recreation Department competed against cities of similar size (“class 3” cities) for the award, announced at the recent Texas Recreation and Park Society Conference.
Kaleidospoke is a glow-in-the-dark family bicycle ride that debuted in Cedar Park in 2022. The 2023 Kaleidospoke took place March 6. This well-attended bike ride is just one of many new events Cedar Park Parks and Recreation staff have been introducing in recent years.
Parks and Recreation Director Curt Randa said, “Our staff are focused on bringing new, fun, innovative, exciting events such as Kaleidospoke to Cedar Park. This event was truly a team effort, and we are so proud of our team’s achievement. We are excited about more events we will be introducing to the Cedar Park community in the future.”
Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Mike DeVito added, “Not many people realize everything that goes into an event such as Kaleidospoke. From creative thinking, to planning and execution, to timely event setups, there are so many things that go into making an event like this happen. We are so proud of them to have been officially recognized for their efforts.”
