Matt Simpson promoted to Battalion Chief in January of 2021. Battalion Chief Simpson is currently assigned to the Fire Prevention Division as the Assistant Fire Marshall.
Battalion Chief Simpson began his career with the Cedar Park Fire Department as a firefighter in 2011 after completing the South Hays Fire Academy. He was promoted to Driver/Engineer in 2014 and then promoted to Lieutenant in 2016, where he served in operations before moving to the Training Division in 2019.
Battalion Chief Simpson holds a Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas. He holds certifications through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection in Fire Officer II, Instructor II, Incident Safety Officer, Fire Investigator, Wildland, and Swift Water Rescue.
Battalion Chief Simpson lives in Round Rock with his wife Sara and their two children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, an occasional round of golf, and coaching little league.
