In November 2015, voters approved $96.7M in bond projects for Public Safety (Police and Fire), Transportation (Streets and Roads), Parks and Recreation and Public Library. Some of these projects, such as Fire Station Number 5 to service the north central and northeast portions of the City, and Phase One (highway realignment) of the Bell Boulevard Redevelopment Project are already underway.
Bell Boulevard Redevelopment Project (Destination: Bell Boulevard)
We created the Bell Boulevard Redevelopment Master Plan in 2015, in response to our community members’ expressed desire to see Cedar Park’s original commercial center revitalized as a thriving commercial corridor with its own unique identity and special charm. We’ve won numerous awards including the American Planning Association’s (APA) 2016 Vernon Deines Honor Award for Outstanding Small Town Project Plan and the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers’ TAMI Award for Marketing Plan/Campaign for project public outreach and engagement. Phase One of the project, which includes realigning a portion of the highway east, was included in the Transportation (Streets and Roads) bonds passed by voters in November 2015. Engineering and Design are underway.
Master Planning City-Wide
Cedar Park holds Scenic City Gold Certification, with its vision for the future that is realized through the master planning process. Our most recent Comprehensive Plan and Library Master Plan were updated in 2014. In 2015 we updated our Transportation Master Plan and Parks and Open Space Master Plan to reflect our community’s needs and vision.
