Great news for Cedar Park water utility customers! On September 8, 2016, City Council approved a change that will impact your water utility account! Each of you put down a security deposit of $50 or $100 when you first signed up for water services in Cedar Park. Before this change, you had to either close your account or request a credit in writing after demonstrating good payment history.
Here is the big change: If you have good payment history – at least 12 consecutive months of no more than one late payment – your security deposit will automatically be credited to your next payment. For example, if your water bill is $75, and you have a security deposit of $100, your $75 bill will be paid for, with $25 left over for the bill after that. It will be listed on your account statement as a credit.
Many of you have already benefited from this ordinance change by your deposit being applied to your account, which shows as a credit amount on your bill in the amount of $50 or $100. Going forward, whether you have 1 month of good payment history or 11 months, your account will be credited on you hit that 12th consecutive month of no more than one late payment.
This change is a result of reviewing best practices; and will provide added convenience to you, the customer, eliminate paperwork, and reduce the steps in the handling of deposits.
