Summer Reading Club 2013 is a smashing success!
Thanks to all our patrons who participated in the Summer Reading Club this year! We had a great summer filled with fun events and, of course, lots and lots of reading.
We had a fantastic number of readers participate in our Summer Reading Club. This year, 2,570 kids, 406 teens, and 926 adults signed up for a total of 3,902 Cedar Park readers.
We also had lots of fun at our weekly toddler and preschool performers. Whether dancing and singing with Mr. Johnny and Friends or going on safari with Miss Elizabeth, the little ones had a great time bopping along to our special performances. Almost every show was a packed house for a total number of 2393 people enjoying our special toddler and preschool programs.
And don’t forget the elementary-aged programs! This year we had an awesome variety of shows. From the amazing magic of Cody Fisher to the comedy improv stylings of the Flying Theatre Machine, our K-5th grade readers had tons of fun at all our performances. All together we had an attendance total of 1561 for our elementary programs.
Our teens also had a lot of fun this summer between Teen Book Club, Anime Club and our gaming events. We had a smashing Super Smash Brothers Brawl tournament, a fast-paced Mario Kart tournament and a very fun Dr. Who party.
This year was also the first year for our Just for Tweens program for kids in grades 4-6. They did an awesome variety of activities, from yoga to improv to DIY crafts. Everyone had a ton of fun!
The Summer Reading Club came to a close at our annual picnic at Milburn Park. We had lots of folks in attendance and everyone had a great time laughing along with clown, Bonzo Crunch. Winners of the drawing prizes were announced, as were the winners of our Fable Fest court. These are the kids who read the most minutes in their age category this year. Here are the winners:
Fable Fest King: Andy Walder
Fable Fest Queen: Grace Cox
Fable Fest Prince: Ashwin Ram
Fable Fest Princess: Shekina Yeo
Fable Fest Duke: David Cristopher Fonville
Fable Fest Duchess: Naomi Maynes
All Summer Reading Club participants should be proud – this year everyone together read over 2.9 million!!! Thanks for a great summer! We look forward to doing it all again next year and keep reading!
