The City of Cedar Park may grant temporary variances for existing water uses if it is determined that failure to grant such a variance  would cause an emergency condition adversely affecting the health, sanitation, or fire protection for the public. Article 18.08

If you'd like to apply for a variance for one of these reasons, for a large property, or represent a business that uses large amounts of water that is restricted under the water ban, please fill out a 2015 Cedar Park Variance form here. Please note that all variance requests have a 2 business day processing time.

The City's Drought Contingency Plan Ordinance includes an administrative fining process to assist with enforcement efforts. The City enforces water restrictions with administrative fines which are added to violators’ utility bills. If a customer has a general inquiry about the restrictions or the fining process, they may call 512-401-5308.

The fine schedule is as follows:

Violation Residential Customer Commercial Customer
First Violation Warning Letter Warning Letter
Second Violation within 12-month period from date of immediately preceding violation $50.00 $200.00
Third Violation within 12-month period from date of immediately preceding violation $100.00 $400.00
Fourth & Subsequent Violations within 12-month period from date of immediately preceding violation $200.00 $1,000.00

Need to Report Water Waste?
If you'd like to report water waste in our community, please call the anonymous Water Conservation Hotline at 512.401.5308 or email conservation@cedarparktexas.gov with details of the alleged water violator.

Only designated City Staff may issue citations for water waste.  However, when waste is reported from the community, the alleged water violator will receive an educational postcard in the mail informing them of the watering schedule and that water waste has been reported on the property.  If an alleged water violator continues to waste water, City Staff will begin additional patrol in the area until the issue is resolved.
