Grimes grew up in Dallas and studied at the University of Texas before beginning his career with American Airlines in 1995. In his 20 years with the American Airlines family, he has served in operations and global sales organizations. He has worked as an operations manager, airport general manager, and is currently the corporate sales manager responsible for Central Texas.
Grimes began his career in Dallas and worked in Boston, Texarkana and Little Rock, before accepting a job transfer in 2006 that would bring him back to Central Texas. As soon as Grimes returned, he knew he was home. In August he met Elexis and in January 2007, they were married in an outdoor chapel overlooking the Texas Hill Country. He resides in the Highlands at Gann Ranch Neighborhood with his wife and two sons and attends Gateway Church.
He currently serves on the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Board, Legislative Committee, Annexation Committee, Sunset Advisory Committee, and the Bell Boulevard redevelopment committee.
His other community service includes Board of Directors, Austin Business Travel Association January 2010 - December 2012; Board of Directors, Junior Achievement May 2011 – December 2012; Family Life, June 2009-2012.
In 2011 Grimes was recognized for his leadership in his division by being awarded the PAAsetters award. In 2012 he received the High Flyer Award in recognition for outstanding leadership throughout American Airlines.
